Judy DeFord originally worked for an awning repair facility in Omaha, NE. This company received lots of flags for repair, but didn't give them much attention, and threw them into a pile in the corner until they had several and were not busy.
She began to think that there might be a market for repairing flags, and started to do a lot of research and watching flags on poles. She realized that the corners (both top and bottom) would begin to fray first, and started taking pictures of a variety of sizes of flags to see if there was a pattern in the wear and tear.
She started experimenting with a variety of methods to reinforce the flags, and 'Better Idea Flags' was born. She continued to develop her process until she was satisfied that she had created the best solution. Then she applied for her patent, and the first licensee of her system was born.
She continued to reinforce flags until she had family commitments that required more of her attention. She then sold a licensee to a gal who was already doing sewing. This licensee has expanded her business and today generates a very respectable income from home with the ability to control her schedule.
What a great combination! Income and freedom of schedule!
Sure, there are times during the year that she has to work a little harder, but for the most part, she spends 30-35 hrs. a week and generates a great income!
We have been using this licensee to repair flags for our commercial customers, and when the opportunity presented itself to purchase the Patent, I was like the Vitrazza Chair Mat customer. I was so impressed with the product and process that I purchased the Patent!
